Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Solano Valley Alumnae Chapter recognizes and honors students who are committed to academic excellence, positive leadership, and community service.  We are offering scholarships up to $2000.

  • Eligibility for this scholarship is limited to graduating female African-American high school seniors who are residents of Solano County and attend a high school in Fairfield, Travis AFB, Cordelia, Vacaville, Suisun, Dixon, and Rio Vista communities. The applicant must demonstrate the following:
  • Academic achievement (minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale).
  • Leadership ability as demonstrated and verified by participation in extracurricular activities, community service, and/or holding positions in organizations.
  • Will attend a two-year accredited Community College or four-year accredited University/College in Fall 2017.

To be considered, this application packet MUST BE POSTMARKED no later than APRIL 1, 2017.

What is SMASH?

The Summer Math and Science Honors Academy (SMASH) is a free of cost, STEM-intensive, college preparatory program for underrepresented high school students of color. SMASH boasts a rigorous 5-week, 3-year summer STEM enrichment program which provides access to rigorous coursework and access to mentors, role models, and support networks of students of color. SMASH scholars remain engaged during the school year through monthly STEM activities and workshops. The program not only reinforces the students’ STEM academic identities, but also focuses on developing their critical thinking, civic awareness, leadership and sense of social responsibility.

We are happy to inform you that the Online Portal to the 2016 SMASH Residential Academy is now OPEN! In collaboration with the Level Playing Field Institute (LPFI), UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions is accepting applications for current 9th graders to join our inaugural summer cohort to reside on campus for 5 weeks for three consecutive summers!  The Summer Math and Science Honors Academy (SMASH) is a free of cost, STEM-intensive, college preparatory program for underrepresented high school students of color.
